Tornado Outbreak Causes Mass Casualties
At least 23 people were killed in a tornado outbreak that swept across Missouri and Kentucky Friday night into Saturday.
In London, Kentucky, at least 12 people have died, with Gov. Andy Beshear warning the death toll is expected to rise as rescue efforts continue.
The storm system also spawned tornadoes in Wisconsin, triggered a heat wave in Texas, and caused a dust storm that enveloped Chicago on an otherwise sunny day.
Inmates Escape New Orleans Jail
Ten inmates, including some facing murder charges, escaped from a New Orleans jail early Friday, prompting a manhunt that has led to the recapture of three inmates, while seven remain at large.
Surveillance footage captured the inmates prying open one of the cell doors before sprinting across Interstate 10 and into a neighborhood. The escape was only discovered during a routine morning headcount eight hours later.
Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson said, “We have the indication that these detainees received assistance in their escape from inside our department.”
Selected with the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy earned the “Mr. Irrelevant” nickname, bestowed each year on the final pick of the seventh round.
