Good Morning! On this day in 1932, Amelia Earhart took off for her historic solo transatlantic flight from Newfoundland to Ireland, becoming the first woman to accomplish such a feat. Watch a video here.
Just when he thought he was angling for dinner, a Wisconsin fisherman ended up reeling in a century-old mystery. His big catch wasn’t a fish, but a forgotten tugboat that’s been ghosting the Great Lakes since 1923. Read more below.

Trump, Putin, Zelensky Hold Peace Calls
President Trump said Monday that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to begin direct talks to end the war, following back-to-back calls with Presidents Zelensky and Putin.
Trump described the conversations with Putin as “productive,” lasting over two hours, and suggested the Vatican could serve as host for negotiations.
The Kremlin confirmed no timeline has been set and offered few specifics.
Zelensky warned the U.S. not to sideline Kyiv and insisted any peace must include the return of occupied territory.

Biden Cancer Spurs Cover-Up Claims
Former President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis, announced on Friday, is drawing fire over whether his White House hid signs of decline.
Doctors say the aggressive, bone-spreading cancer likely developed over five to ten years, raising questions about why no red flags appeared during Biden’s 2024 physical.
Vice President JD Vance said Americans “need to be honest” about whether Biden was fit for duty, while Donald Trump Jr. suggested a cover-up.
The controversy comes just as Original Sin, a tell-all book dropping today, claims top aides concealed Biden’s cognitive and physical struggles during his reelection run.

Stinky Tree Faces Statewide Bans, Bounties
The invasive Callery pear tree, infamous for its foul odor likened to dead fish or worse, has been labeled invasive in over 30 states due to its rapid spread and ecological disruption.
Four states—Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Missouri—have banned it, and Minnesota and Kansas will follow suit in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
Virginia, Missouri, North Carolina, Kansas, and Ohio offer free native trees in exchange for felled Callery pears. In Ohio’s Franklin County, residents can receive up to $100 and $150 in New Albany for replacing invasive trees with approved native species.
Once a landscaping favorite for its fast growth and spring blooms, the Callery pear has become a botanical blunder, threatening native ecosystems and posing storm hazards thanks to its brittle, easily broken branches.
