Article Icon 1Rescue Dog Senses Seizure, Wins Hearts

A rescue dog named Sienna is being praised after instinctively detecting a man’s medical emergency during an adoption event.

Without any training, the former stray approached the man, gently placed her paw on his leg, and refused to leave his side. Moments later, his wife confirmed he was about to have a seizure.

Although the Davis family—who witnessed the event—couldn’t adopt Sienna because they already had three dogs, her story touched many. Donations poured in to cover her adoption fees, and applications for her adoption soon followed.

Shelter staff called her intuition “extraordinary.”

Article Icon 1Saying Yes to No: The Confidence Cure

When 23-year-old Sophie Jones from Warrington, England, faced a devastating breakup, she realized she had a deep fear of rejection. That revelation led her to take on a personal challenge: face rejection head-on, every day.

Her mission echoes the original 100 Days of Rejection Therapy, a viral project by Jia Jiang, who intentionally sought out daily rejections—from asking for Olympic doughnuts to requesting intercom time at Costco—to desensitize himself from fear.

Jones has adapted the concept for social media, donning wedding dresses in grocery stores and asking strangers for compliments. See a video here.

The point isn’t shock—it’s freedom. Like Jiang, she’s found that fear shrinks when confronted and confidence grows when you stop worrying about what others think. It’s awkward, a little ridiculous, and surprisingly effective.

In a quiet corner of Collin County Jail in Texas, a unique rehabilitation program is giving incarcerated military veterans a chance to heal through horse-assisted therapy.

The Valor program, launched in 2018, provides equine therapy along with mental health and anger management support. Led by Vietnam veteran Pat Puckett, it teaches participants to gain a horse’s trust through calm, nonverbal communication—an approach that helps inmates manage anxiety and remain emotionally steady.

Nearly one-third of U.S. veterans have been arrested or jailed, double the civilian rate. Valor aims to change that by giving participants the tools to cope with PTSD.

The program ends with a trail ride and is expanding with plans for permanent stables.

Fun Friday

A man is flying in a plane when it crashes into the jungle. He survives, pulls out his phone, but the battery is dead.
He stumbles into a clearing where a group of natives are dancing around a totem.
“Excuse me, do you have a charger for this phone?”
“No, we don’t.”
“Do you at least have a phone I could use to call for help?”
“Nope, not here.”
“So, how do you communicate with the outside world?”
“We drum—then someone on that hill picks it up and drums it further…”
“For heaven’s sake, drum for help then!”
One of them picks up a drum and starts: “boomtarata boom boom bang bang.”
After a while, from the hill comes a reply: “boomtarata boom boom boom boom.”
“What did they say?”
“They said…”
