Question: In what city did the Rockettes perform before moving to New York?

Answer: Before they became the Radio City Rockettes, the precision dance troupe was founded in 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri, as a 16-member group called the Missouri Rockets. Led by choreographer Russell Markert and inspired by British precision dance styles, they performed locally and on tour before impresario S.L. “Roxy” Rothafel brought them to New York City, renamed them the Roxyettes, and, after settling at Radio City Music Hall in 1932, they eventually became known as the Rockettes
