Article Icon 1Flight Attendant’s Miracle Survival

A flight attendant was ejected from an Air Canada jet that crashed into a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport Sunday night and survived. Solange Tremblay was found more than 300 feet from the wreckage, still strapped into her jump seat.

Her daughter called it a “complete miracle.” Experts say the crew seat’s four-point restraint system, designed to withstand far greater crash forces than a passenger seat, likely saved her life. Tremblay suffered leg fractures and will need surgery but is expected to recover.

The crash killed both pilots and injured 41 others when the plane struck a rescue vehicle on the runway. Passengers credited the pilots’ last-second braking with helping protect those on board.

A corgi has become an unlikely hero after appearing to lead six other dogs on a 10-mile trek across northeastern China, with viral footage showing it repeatedly looking back as the group moved together.

Footage shows the tight-knit pack: a golden retriever, a Labrador, a German shepherd, a Pekingese, and others, traveling in formation along highways and through fields. When the German shepherd was injured, the group slowed and kept the dog protected in the middle.

The seven dogs, all from the same village in Jilin Province, are believed to have escaped captivity by chewing through a cage. Volunteers and a drone tracked the pack over two days until all seven made it home safely. The video has been viewed more than 230 million times.

A bright yellow payphone near Boston University invites passersby to “Call a Boomer.” Pick it up, and it rings a matching phone 3,000 miles away inside a senior living community in Reno, Nevada, where the sticker reads “Call a Zoomer.”

The project, from a company called Matter Neuroscience, is built on a simple idea: younger and older adults are the two loneliest groups in America, and a conversation between strangers can do more good than people think.

One video of the calls racked up 18 million views on Instagram. In it, a senior named April asks a college student for life advice, flipping the usual script. The student’s answer? Get off your phone and go outside.

The company previously connected San Francisco and Abilene, Texas, to bridge political divides, and says negative reactions have been “almost negligible.” The phones will stay up for at least a month.

“Their journey could be the premise for a movie. The Golden Retriever positioned itself closest to traffic to shield the others. The Corgi kept checking back to ensure no one was left behind. The German shepherd, showing natural leadership, remained central like a general.”
