The Feel Good Flyover
Good Afternoon! Turns out one of the sweetest things on wheels this summer might be an ice cream truck in Massachusetts. After a viral moment between a tearful little boy and a generous vendor, strangers from around the world stepped up to help spread even more kindness, as we report in today’s edition of the Feel Good Flyover.

Article Icon 1NC State Grads Get Loan Surprise

More than 170 graduates at North Carolina State University’s Wilson College of Textiles expected a typical commencement speech earlier this month. What they got instead left them jumping out of their seats.

Commencement speaker Anil Kochhar announced that he and his wife, Marilyn, would cover all final-year student loans incurred by Wilson College graduates during the 2025-26 academic year. The gift honors Anil’s late father, Prakash Chand Kochhar, who came to NC State from India and earned textile manufacturing degrees in the 1950s.

Marilyn and I hope that all of you leave Reynolds Coliseum today not only with a degree but with greater freedom to pursue your goals, take risks, and build the lives you’ve worked so hard to achieve,” Anil told the crowd.

Video of the announcement showed stunned graduates cheering, clapping, and searching the crowd for family members. One parent summed up the mood online in two words: “Instant tears!!”

Three Florida high schoolers on their way to go fishing stopped to help a stranger change a flat tire and ended up saving his life. Logan Royer, 16, Cody Magrone, 16, and Brody Murray, 17, spotted 65-year-old Diego Fernandez-Delgado stranded along a road in Cooper City after stopping at a nearby McDonald’s.

While two of the boys worked on the tire, Logan noticed something was wrong. Diego was struggling to breathe, sweating heavily, and unable to speak clearly. His phone was dead, so Logan called 911, and the teens stayed with him until paramedics arrived. He was later diagnosed with a heart attack.

The teens were honored by Cooper City officials on May 12. Diego’s son, Cristian, summed it up simply: “God didn’t send angels with wings. He sent those boys.”

Article Icon 1Ice Cream Kindness Goes Viral

A little boy walked up to an ice cream truck in Gardner, Massachusetts, with no money and started crying as he turned away. Owner Madyson Silvagnoli didn’t hesitate. “Bring him back,” she told her cousin. She loaded up a chocolate scoop with whipped cream and sprinkles and handed it over. “You want an ice cream from Maddy, you get an ice cream from Maddy.”

A video of the moment, captioned “No money, no problem. Kindness is always free,” quickly racked up millions of views.

Then the donations started pouring in from across the country and as far away as Denmark and Australia, funding what Maddy calls the “No More Tears Fund”. Now, the fund is helping provide free ice cream to more children throughout the summer.
