Israel, Lebanon Agree to 10-Day Ceasefire
The leaders of Israel and Lebanon agreed to a 10-day ceasefire after officials from the two countries met in Washington, President Trump said Thursday. The truce went into effect at 5 p.m. ET Thursday.
In a follow-up, Trump added that he will be inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon to the White House “for the first meaningful talks between Israel and Lebanon since 1983, a very long time ago.”
The pause in Israel’s nearly seven-week campaign against Hezbollah could unlock stalled US-Iran peace talks. Tehran had demanded an end to Israeli strikes in Lebanon as a precondition for any deal ending Operation Epic Fury.
Meanwhile, the US blockade of Iranian ports remains in full effect. Central Command said 13 vessels have been turned away, and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth warned Iran’s new regime to “choose wisely” on reaching a deal.

GOP Finalizing National Privacy Bill
A House GOP working group led by Energy and Commerce leaders is finalizing a draft national privacy bill that would override state privacy statutes and sharply limit individuals’ ability to sue companies, while a Democratic-sponsored alternative quietly moves through committee.
The draft would preempt roughly 20 existing state laws, according to a source. The draft would not allow individuals to sue companies for violating their privacy rights, potentially limiting enforcement to government regulators such as state attorneys general or the Federal Trade Commission.
Democrats are opposed to that national plan, instead supporting a framework that allows people to bring individual lawsuits against companies and that allows states to implement tougher standards.
Separately, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) introduced H.R. 8014, the “Online Privacy Act of 2026,” on March 19. The bill would create a new Digital Privacy Agency to enforce them. It has no bipartisan support so far.

Tom Cruise to Return in New Top Gun Sequel
Paramount Pictures officially confirmed Thursday that Top Gun 3 is in active development, with Tom Cruise returning as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell and Jerry Bruckheimer reprising his producing role.
The sequel follows 2022’s blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick, which grossed roughly $1.5 billion globally and was widely credited with reviving theatrical moviegoing after the pandemic. It earned six Oscar nominations, winning for Best Sound.
Paramount film co-heads Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg revealed that a script by Ehren Kruger, who co-wrote Maverick, is well underway. No director has been attached, and a release date has not been set.
