Derrick Perry, 41, a Marine Corps veteran, is being praised nationwide after confronting a knife-wielding attacker who wounded 11 people at a Walmart in Traverse City, Michigan, last weekend.

Cellphone video shows Perry, armed with a handgun, shouting commands at the 42-year-old suspect, Bradford Gille, and helping other shoppers pin him down until police arrived.

Family members called it a proud moment, with Perry’s daughter saying he acted instinctively to protect others.

Perry’s quick, disciplined response likely prevented further injuries in what police are calling a random and violent rampage. Watch an interview with Perry here.

A tiny Mexico City taco stand has made culinary history as the first of its kind to earn a Michelin star.

Operating since 1968 with just four beef tacos on the menu, Taquería El Califa de León impressed inspectors with its stripped down recipe: beef, salt, lime, and a fresh tortilla—sauce optional.

Chef Arturo Rivera Martínez has run the 680-degree griddle for over two decades, serving the same no-frills tacos in a 100-square-foot space with no seats and barely room to stand.

At nearly $5 a taco, it’s not cheap by local standards—but loyal customers say it’s worth every peso. As Rivera Martínez put it, It’s cool,” and that’s about as flashy as it gets.

A baby moose named Cedar was rescued in Ontario, Canada, after being found alone and disoriented.

Just two months old and separated from his mother, Cedar had little chance of surviving in the wild. He was taken in by Holly’s Haven Wildlife Rescue, where vets found he had limited vision in one eye.

With nearby sanctuaries at capacity, the team quickly approved Cedar’s move to the Toronto Zoo. Staff there are now prepping his new habitat and coordinating care with Holly’s Haven.

Though he can’t return to the wild, Cedar will serve as an educational ambassador, helping people connect with native wildlife up close.
