Noem Out at Homeland Security
President Trump ousted Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Thursday, making her the first Cabinet secretary to leave in his second term. He named GOP Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin as her replacement, effective March 31.
The move came after two days of bruising congressional testimony in which lawmakers from both parties questioned her about ICE strategy and tactics, a $220 million ad campaign, and her overall leadership of the department, which has been shut down for 20 days.
Trump said Noem will become Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, a new Western Hemisphere security initiative. Mullin, who still needs Senate confirmation, said he looked forward to supporting Trump’s mission.

New $6,000 Tax Break for Seniors
As millions of Americans file their 2025 federal tax returns, taxpayers 65 and older can claim a brand-new deduction of up to $6,000, or $12,000 for married couples filing jointly.
The catch: it requires filing a new Schedule 1-A that many seniors may not know about.
The deduction, part of last year’s One Big Beautiful Bill, stacks on top of the existing standard deduction and phases out for singles earning over $75,000 and couples over $150,000. At a 12% tax rate, the full $6,000 break saves a single filer about $720.
The White House estimates 33.9 million seniors will benefit. The deduction is temporary, running only through 2028.

Star-Studded World Baseball Classic Begins
The 2026 World Baseball Classic, featuring many of the game’s best players from around the globe, kicked off this week in Tokyo and arrives stateside today, with 20 nations playing 47 games over 13 days, culminating in a championship on March 17 in Miami. See the full schedule.
Team USA might be fielding the most talented roster in tournament history. Led by three-time American League MVP Aaron Judge, the Americans bring both reigning Cy Young winners (Paul Skenes and Tarik Skubal), four former MVPs, and a combined 65 All-Star appearances to their opening game tonight against Brazil at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
The defending champion, Japan, has arguably the game’s best player, Shohei Ohtani, on its roster in Tokyo. The Dominican Republic, managed by Albert Pujols, will roll out sluggers like Juan Soto, Vlad Guerrero Jr., and Fernando Tatis Jr. in Miami.
In all, a record of 78 MLB All-Stars are scattered across the 20 rosters. Only three countries have ever won the Classic: Japan (2006, 2009, 2023), the Dominican Republic (2013), and the United States (2017). Here’s how to watch.

Americans Biggest Threat Is Here
This feels like one of those “where were you when Kennedy was shot” moments. That single shot started an avalanche of investigations, accusations, and conspiracy theories.
That’s what you just witnessed with the death of the Ayatollah Khamenei
Because the strikes proved how fragile things can get: billions could be lost.
When war strikes, here’s what follows:
- Market volatility.
- Inflation risk rises.
- Everyday necessities get pricier or scarce.
We don’t have to agree, but we DO have to talk about what comes next.
Because you may have only two options:
- Do nothing. Let global conflict chew through your retirement savings, dissolving your buying power.
- Or set a diversified safety-net to help protect your purchasing power and tame those swings.
So instead of waiting, hoping, and praying for the best, you should at least consider your options.
For example, there’s an IRS-approved path that can let you use existing retirement savings to get physical gold and silver tax and penalty free when done correctly.
