Boeing Lands $96 Billion Deal With Qatar Airways
Boeing has locked in the biggest aircraft order in its history: a $96 billion deal with Qatar Airways for up to 210 widebody jets, unveiled this week during President Trump’s visit to Doha.
The purchase includes 130 Dreamliners and 30 777Xs, with options for 50 more. Powering this fleet: more than 400 GE Aerospace engines, making it the largest widebody engine order GE has ever received.
The deal is part of broader U.S.-Qatar agreements totaling over $243 billion and is projected to support around 154,000 U.S. jobs annually, bolstering America’s aerospace industry during a key recovery phase.
Glowing Petunias Hit U.S. Stores
For the first time, Americans can buy the bioengineered, glow-in-the-dark Firefly Petunias—a 2024 top invention—in brick-and-mortar garden stores nationwide.
Developed by Idaho biotech startup Light Bio, the petunias emit a natural green glow at night using genes from a luminous mushroom. Watch a video here.
They were approved by the USDA in late 2023 and are sold only as live plants, not seeds or bulbs. The flowers retail for about $14 each in compostable pots at more than 200 garden centers, including select Home Depot locations.
Previously available only online, they are hitting shelves in time for the peak spring planting season.
