Article Icon 1Daughter Gives Mom Long-Overdue Sanctuary

After growing up in shelters, Ana Duarte, 25, has turned years of hardship into a stable life—and used it to gift her mother, Annette, the bedroom she never had.

The two women spent much of Ana’s youth in cramped rentals and shelters, with Annette working low-wage jobs after dropping out of school to care for family.

Ana graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in social work and now works for a Christian nonprofit, helping people living in poverty—something she knows firsthand.

In her first stable apartment in Florida, Ana gave her mother the master bedroom as a symbol of “peace, dignity, and a fresh beginning.”

✨ Amy Hess interviews Ana on today’s Feel Good Flyover Podcast to learn more about her story.

When a skateboarding accident near the University of Texas at Austin left student Joey Romano with a broken wrist, he called an Uber instead of an ambulance.

Driver Beni Lukumu not only took him to the emergency room but stayed by his side for six hours—signing him in, offering comfort, and refusing payment.

Beni, a Congolese immigrant, knew what it was like to be far from family and chose compassion over fares that day.

Still grieving his brother’s death, Joey says that simple act helped him reconnect with the world. They’ve stayed friends ever since.

🛹 Don’t miss an exclusive interview with Joey and Beni on today’s Feel Good Flyover Podcast with Amy Hess.

Article Icon 1Prisoners Give Animals New Life

In five Ohio prisons, inmates are helping rescue and care for wild animals through a partnership with the Ohio Wildlife Center.

At Marion Correctional Institution, volunteers tend to everything from songbirds to opossums, nursing them back to health for release into the wild.

Though some are serving life sentences, they spend their days feeding baby birds every 15 minutes, tube-feeding rabbits and squirrels, and troubleshooting wildlife illnesses.

Between January and August, Marion released 186 animals and hopes to eventually reach 1,000 annually. For the inmates, it’s more than a time-filler—it’s structure, purpose, and a shot at redemption.
