Austria’s Claudia Riegler competed in her fifth Winter Olympics in Milano, Italy, on Sunday, racing in the parallel giant slalom at age 52.

She qualified 16th out of 36 riders and advanced to the elimination rounds before falling to two-time defending gold medalist Ester Ledecka, 22 years her junior.

Riegler made her Olympic debut at Salt Lake City in 2002, one year before Czech rider Zuzana Maderova, the current gold medalist, was born. At 30, she was once cut from Austria’s team for being “too old.”

She fought her way back, won a world championship in 2015, and has logged more than 400 World Cup starts. She says next year’s world championships in Austria could be her last.

A 3-year-old boy and a small Chiweenie dog from Los Angeles are connected by more than fate. They both have the world’s smallest pacemaker.

Cameron Knowles received the specially modified device two and a half years ago after developing a heart block. He was too small for a traditional pacemaker.

After seeing a CBS Philadelphia story on Cameron, the Los Angeles dog’s owner contacted the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. With help from Dr. Maully Shah, the dog, Panini, received the same device.

Now both are thriving and recently met on the East Coast, bonded by a life-saving device small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. Watch a video report.

In rural England, a herd of llamas helped stop a thief after he tried to escape police by running through their field.

As the man crossed into their enclosure, eight llamas surrounded him and began making loud alarm calls, keeping him in place until officers arrived.

The suspect had allegedly stolen tobacco and fled, only to be found “terrified” by the 6-foot-tall animals before being taken into custody.

Owner Heidi Price joked that her herd had made a “citizen’s arrest,” noting the llamas kept their cool without resorting to their usual spitting defense.
