Good Morning! On this day in 1953, Lucille Ball gave birth to her son, Desi Arnaz Jr., on the same night the episode aired in which her character on the I Love Lucy show gave birth to a son, drawing more viewers than any TV episode in history to that point.
If it felt unusually cold this morning, Florida’s iguanas noticed too. A cold snap sent the reptiles falling from trees, a strange but familiar sight when temperatures drop low enough. Officials say most revive once things warm up. Have you ever seen a stunned iguana? Reply to let us know.

EU Withholds Trade Bazooka Launch
The European Union backed off triggering its “trade bazooka” anti-coercion instrument against President Trump’s Greenland tariff threats during an urgent Sunday meeting, prioritizing diplomacy while holding a $108-billion retaliation package in reserve.
President Trump threatened 10% tariffs starting Feb. 1 on eight European countries including Denmark, Germany, and France, escalating to 25% by June unless Greenland is sold to the United States.
European Council President António Costa has convened an extraordinary summit scheduled for Thursday as member states prepare retaliatory tariffs of up to 30% on U.S. cars, poultry, and other products if Trump follows through on his threats.
The EU will decide after the Feb. 1 deadline whether to deploy its anti-coercion tool, which allows Brussels to impose counter-tariffs without requiring unanimous member state approval.

Gaza Board Offers Seats for $1 Billion
President Trump is requesting $1 billion from countries seeking permanent membership on his new Gaza Board of Peace, the White House confirmed.
The board grants temporary three-year memberships at no cost, but nations contributing the billion-dollar threshold within the first year receive permanent seats overseeing Gaza’s reconstruction and governance transition.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu objected to the board’s composition, stating its formation “was not coordinated with Israel and runs contrary to its policy” after learning Turkey’s foreign minister and a Qatari official received appointments.
World leaders from the U.K., Hungary, Argentina, Jordan, India, and Egypt have reportedly received invitations, though only Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has confirmed acceptance of the role.

Indiana, Miami Clash Tonight for Championship
The 2025 college football season reaches its climax tonight as the Indiana Hoosiers face off against the Miami Hurricanes to determine the NCAA national champion.
Indiana’s year has been historic, winning its first Big Ten title since 1967, logging its first-ever College Football Playoff wins behind its first-ever Heisman winner, quarterback Fernando Mendoza. Head coach Curt Cignetti is now one win away from completing the most improbable championship run in modern college football history.
The Miami Hurricanes enter the game as underdogs, but that’s a familiar script for them this postseason. They punched their ticket to the title match with back-to-back upsets over Texas A&M and Ohio State in the first two rounds, thanks to their powerful defense.
The Hoosiers are favored by 8.5 points in the game, but Miami is playing in front of what’s essentially a home crowd at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. Crowd noise could become the difference between a win and a loss.

From the Founder’s Desk:
Why I Want The Flyover Readers to Own The Flyover
When I decided to accept investors in The Flyover, one thing mattered to me more than anything: that our readers would have the chance to become our owners. If I had my druthers, every single investor in The Flyover would be a Flyover reader. That’s why we’ve structured this offering with you in mind:
Legally, the offering is open to any U.S. citizen. But my heart—and our strategy—are focused on keeping ownership in the hands of our readers. Right now, we’re less than $84,000 away from hitting $4 million raised—80% full. Once we cross that mark and announce our final investment date, I expect the final 20% to be filled.
That’s why I’m asking our readers one more time: will you consider investing in The Flyover today?
This is the final month to invest.
But some of our readers are asking: “How do I get a return on my investment?”
Here’s why The Flyover is different:
-
Already profitable after just two years (most start-ups never are)
-
80% gross margins and 24% net income (exceptional margins)
-
In the top 1% of media start-ups (proven strength)
How investors could realize returns:
-
A Sale—Only to a partner who shares our values. (CNN or The New York Times need not apply.)
-
Public Listing—Shares traded openly on an exchange.
-
Profit Distributions (Dividends)—Because we’re already profitable, this is possible.
Recap: Sale. Listing. Distributions.
My Closing Pitch
More than 2,600 Flyover readers have already joined us as investors. We’re just $84,000 away from our next milestone—and once we hit it, we will announce our closing date. If you’ve been considering investing, now is the moment. Will you help us finish this round and together make The Flyover a news company truly owned by its readers.
Will you be one of the final investors who helps us keep The Flyover fully reader-owned?
