Toddler Defies Odds at Mom’s Wedding

A Manchester, England, mother got an unexpected moment of joy when her 3-year-old son, once told he might never walk, helped escort her down the aisle at her November wedding.

Kimberly Waterworth said she was “overwhelmed” as her son Chester took those steps, just a year after being diagnosed with severe global developmental delay affecting his ability to eat, grow and move.

Doctors had warned the boy might never walk after early struggles with feeding, weight gain, and airway issues. Progress came with medical care and support from a local nursery, where staff helped him build strength and confidence.

Kimberly credited those caregivers with helping make the milestone possible.

Message in Bottle Sparks 25-Year Bond

A message in a bottle tossed from a cruise ship near Norway in 1997 led to a 25-year friendship after washing ashore in Tasmania in 2001.

Diane Charles found the barnacle-covered bottle, tracked down the sender, Colombian traveler Erika Boyero, and the two began corresponding across continents.

The pair stayed in touch for more than two decades, sharing life updates and milestones despite never meeting face to face.

Erika said she had long hoped to visit Tasmania and meet the woman who found her message. That finally happened this year, when Boyero traveled to Australia and reunited with Diane on the same beach where the bottle was discovered. Watch a video.

Hit Song’s Number Now a Cancer Lifeline

The phone number made famous by Tommy Tutone’s 1981 hit 867-5309/Jenny is being repurposed as a cancer support hotline.

Singer Tommy Heath partnered with the nonprofit Cancer Support Community to turn the pop culture staple into a resource for people seeking guidance, information, and emotional support.

Tommy, 78, said his decision to get involved was driven by personal experiences with cancer in his family, along with his own health concerns. The free helpline connects callers with trained specialists who help navigate treatment and resources.

Organizers say the goal is to make support more accessible by tying it to a familiar number, giving people an easy and even slightly uplifting way to reach out.
