 South Korea Secures Hyundai Workers’ Release
South Korean officials announced Sunday that they reached a deal with the Trump administration to release more than 300 workers detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after a raid last week at a Hyundai plant in Georgia.
President Lee Jae Myung’s chief of staff indicated a charter plane would bring the workers back to South Korea in the coming days as final administrative steps are completed.
Meanwhile, Hyundai announced that “none of those detained are directly employed” by the motor company. The Department of Homeland Security said that most of those detained were subcontractors working in the U.S. illegally.
Responding to the raid, South Korea’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement expressing “concern and regret,” as ICE workplace raids ramp up across the U.S.

Alcaraz Wins US Open as Trump Attends
Carlos Alcaraz of Spain captured the 2025 U.S. Open men’s singles title Sunday in New York, defeating Italy’s Jannik Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in a clash billed as the latest chapter of the “Sincaraz” rivalry.
The victory marked their third consecutive Grand Slam final meeting this season, giving Alcaraz his second Flushing Meadows crown, sixth major overall, and the No. 1 ranking back from Sinner.
The champion takes home $5 million, part of a record prize pool, as a high-profile crowd looked on, including President Trump, whose appearance delayed the start by about a half-hour and drew a mix of cheers and boos amid heavy security that caused chaos outside the stadium.

Florida Rep. and Scientist Warn of Alien Probe
Harvard’s Avi Loeb and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) are urging NASA to monitor 3I/ATLAS, an interstellar object they say could release mini-probes resembling UFOs as it nears the sun on Oct. 30.
Luna, who chairs the House Declassification Task Force, joined the push in early September and wants the Juno mission redirected to study it. Listen to the podcast interview here.

Loeb says the object may deploy “mini-probes” that could resemble UFOs, citing unusual traits like forward-facing luminosity and precise orbital alignment.
Most scientists still say it’s just a comet, but the object’s odd behavior has some folks in Washington taking a second look.
