 Trump Takes New Aim at Birthright
President Trump signed two executive orders targeting birthright citizenship and commercial “birth tourism,” weeks after the Supreme Court struck down his broader order in a 6-3 ruling.
One order expands who is ineligible for automatic citizenship, including children of “alien enemies,” foreign terrorist organization members, and people who lobby on behalf of foreign governments.
The second order directs the State Department and Homeland Security to deny visas to those entering the country to give birth, cracking down on what the White House called organized operations that exploit temporary admission for U.S. citizenship. Legal challenges are expected.

Lake Mead Sinks to All-Time Low
Lake Mead, the nation’s largest reservoir, hit a record low, with the waterline now more than 188 feet below its historic high, breaking the previous record set in July 2022.
As the water recedes, submerged mountains and rocky spires are re-emerging east of Las Vegas, creating dangerous new obstacles for boaters. The reservoir now holds just 27% of its capacity.
The Colorado River system supplies water to roughly 40 million people across seven western states, and nearby Lake Powell is also nearing its own record low, raising concerns about hydropower generation and long-term water supplies across the Southwest.

Former NBA Player Challenges WNBA
Former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, officially declared his eligibility for the 2027 WNBA Draft to play as a man in the pro women’s league.
Freedom says he and his team reviewed the league’s eligibility criteria and claimed that he meets every legal requirement necessary to compete under the WNBA’s inclusive transgender athlete policies, though WNBA officials dispute that.
Those policies have been under a microscope since Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham’s public remarks that women’s sports should remain female-only.
