Good morning! On this day in 1995, Space Shuttle Atlantis launched from Kennedy Space Center on mission STS-71, marking the 100th U.S. human spaceflight and the first shuttle docking with Russia’s Mir space station.
Thanks to all the readers who wrote in with their choice for the most essential American song. Many voted for The Star-Spangled Banner, but a lot of you also noted that we left out an obvious choice: God Bless America, and we have to agree with you. We were so busy singing that we forgot to include that popular favorite. Others mentioned Yankee Doodle Dandy, You’re a Grand Old Flag, and even the Marines’ Hymn. For our money, they’re all essential American songs.
A new study following nearly 2,000 older adults showed that one specific diet could lower the risk of dementia by up to 30%, even among people already showing early markers of Alzheimer’s disease. So what should you be putting on your plate? On today’s episode of The Flyover Podcast, Amy will tell you which everyday foods you should be eating, and explain what makes them so powerful for your brain. No matter your age, this one’s worth a listen. (Tune in here)

Bolton Pleads Guilty in Docs Case
Former National Security Adviser John Bolton pleaded guilty Friday to one felony count of illegally retaining classified national security information, resolving an 18-count federal indictment.
Bolton entered the plea in federal court in Greenbelt, Maryland. Under the deal, he agreed to forfeit approximately $2.2 million, serve 100 hours of community service, and give up his federal retirement pay. Prosecutors agreed to recommend no more than five years in prison.
Sentencing is set for Oct. 28. Bolton served as President Trump’s national security adviser from 2018 to 2019.

Ukraine Slams Russia with Drones
Ukraine launched one of its largest drone assaults of the war overnight, with Russia’s Defense Ministry claiming 660 drones targeted at least 12 regions, including Moscow and occupied Crimea.
Ukrainian forces also struck two military vessels and air defense systems in Crimea’s Kerch region, where authorities declared a state of emergency and halted all civilian fuel sales.
The barrage followed President Zelenskyy’s announcement of a “40-day influence operation” aimed at compelling Russia to end the war.
Ukraine has already launched more than 3,000 long-range drones into Russia this year, compared to 110 in all of 2024.

Major Heat Wave to Hit US
The first widespread significant heat wave of 2026 is about to hit the U.S., caused by two heat domes that will soon merge into one massive high-pressure system over the South and Midwest.
The heat begins this weekend along the Gulf Coast and expands north through the week, with the dome centering over St. Louis by July 1 and Chicago by the Fourth of July. Here are maps of what’s expected.
Heat index values could reach 100 to 110 across much of the region, with parts of the Mississippi Valley peaking near 115. The heatwave is likely to last all week long, and perhaps into the weekend in the Southeast.
