Editor’s Note: Yesterday’s Flyover incorrectly referred to President Trump as “former President Trump.” We apologize profusely for the error—that kind of careless mistake has no place in The Flyover.
To prevent it from happening again, we drilled into our process to see where it was coming from. We found that the error was generated by an AI engine we use in our preliminary research that wasn’t caught, as it should have been, by our editing team before publication. We’ve taken measures to prevent this from happening in the future and apologize again for the error. — Cole, CEO
Today in History: On this day in 1883, after 14 years of construction, the Brooklyn Bridge opened, connecting New York City and Brooklyn. The largest suspension bridge at the time, its dedication attracted thousands of onlookers, led by President Chester A. Arthur and Governor Grover Cleveland.

Trump Sets Tariffs for EU, Apple
President Trump called for 50% tariffs on the European Union on Friday, while also warning of a tariff of at least 25% on Apple if the company doesn’t start making iPhones in the U.S.
The new EU tariffs would start on June 1, and Trump said he wasn’t looking to make a deal with the EU in the next nine days. “We’ve set the deal,” he said. “It’s at 50%.”
Earlier in the day, Trump warned Apple that it would be hit by a 25% tariff if it didn’t bring iPhone manufacturing back to the U.S., along with other tech companies, such as Samsung, that sell products in the U.S. that are made overseas. Apple shares fell 3% on the news.
Beef Prices Hit Record High for Summer
Americans are heading into their Memorial Day cookouts with the average cost of ground beef hitting a record-breaking high price of $5.80 a pound in April, up nearly 50% from five years ago.
Economists say they expect beef prices will climb further with increased demand through the summer grilling season. At nearly $6 a pound, the price has risen 14% since last year, after farmers slashed their cattle herds to a 74-year low due to drought and disease.
One Texas rancher said that a year ago, he could buy cattle for about $1,500 per steer. Now, he says, the price has risen to nearly $2,400.
