Gas is cheapest on the day you’d least expect, the DMV has two days you’ll want to avoid, and airlines, car dealers, and grocery stores each have a sweet spot of their own. We’re counting down what the data says about all seven, saving the biggest surprise for last. Amy has the full story on today’s episode of The Flyover Podcast. Tune in here!

Trump Names New Chief of Staff in Shakeup
President Trump named Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller as his new chief of staff, replacing Susie Wiles beginning on Monday.
Trump called Miller, who has run the administration’s immigration enforcement and deportation program, one of his most trusted advisers and wrote on Truth Social that Wiles, who “has done an outstanding job,” will be moving to his political operation.
Wiles submitted her resignation Thursday night, a White House official told reporters. She ran Trump’s 2024 campaign, served as chief of staff from his first day back in office, and was the first woman to hold the post.
The shakeup lands three days after Republicans’ midterm losses. Critics in the GOP have called for Trump to replace her over the election results.

Hiring Surges, Unemployment Drops
The U.S. economy added 165,000 jobs in October, nearly triple the 59,000 new jobs forecasters had expected, the Labor Department reported Friday.
At the same time, the unemployment rate slipped to 4.1% from 4.2%, and revisions added a combined 84,000 jobs to the August and September counts.
Hiring was broad. Professional and business services led with 70,000 jobs, healthcare added 42,000, and manufacturing 19,000. Average hourly earnings rose 3.1% from a year earlier.
The strength keeps another Federal Reserve rate hike on the table when policymakers meet Dec. 8-9. Traders put the odds of a quarter-point increase at about 77%, up from 67% a day earlier.

Ranking: The Most Trusted Professions
Doctors, scientists, and teachers rank as the most trusted professions worldwide, according to a recently released global index chart. Politicians finished last among the 20 groups measured.
The survey questioned 23,537 adults across 31 countries in late June and early July. Just 13% called politicians trustworthy, against 58% for doctors.
The American picture looks similar. Nurses have led a separate U.S. ranking of honesty and ethics for the 24th straight year, at 75%, while telemarketers and members of Congress sit at the bottom.
AI chatbots joined the list for the first time this year. Just 23% called them trustworthy and 40% said they were not. In the United States, 22% trusted tech entrepreneurs.

Auto-renewing your car insurance? Read this first.
Automatic renewal makes life easier. No paperwork, no phone calls, no worrying about a lapse in coverage. But that convenience could be costing you money.
Car insurance rates change all the time, and the company that offered you the best deal six months or a year ago might not be the most competitive today. Yet many drivers simply let their policies renew without checking what else is available.
With car insurance premiums averaging more than $2,200 a year, even a modest difference in rates could mean hundreds of dollars in annual savings.
The good news? Shopping around doesn’t have to be a hassle. Money’s free car insurance comparison tool lets you compare rates from providers in your area in just minutes. And if you find a better deal, you can switch insurers without waiting for your current policy to expire.
