Good morning! On this day in 1901, President William McKinley was shot twice in the chest by anarchist Leon Czolgosz at the Pan-American Exhibition in Buffalo. He rose briefly before collapsing, saying, “Be careful how you tell my wife.”
Did you know there were 570 tunnels in the U.S., and over 100 of them are in California alone? Today in Trivia we ask which state has the longest tunnel in the nation (hint: It’s not California). Do you know? Take a look and see if you’re right.
Thinking about starting a business? Whether it’s a side hustle you’ve been dreaming about or the big leap into full-time entrepreneurship, the hardest part is often just figuring out where to begin. F-35 Jets Sent to Caribbean Drug Fight
The U.S. will deploy 10 F-35 fighter jets to Puerto Rico in an expansion of its drug cartel fight, just days after a lethal strike by US forces destroyed a boat the White House said was carrying a 11` Venezuelan narco-terrorists.
On Thursday, two armed Venezuelan F-16 fighter jets flew over the USS Jason Dunham, according to multiple Defense Department officials who described the action as a “show of force.”
Apart from the Dunham, the Trump administration has deployed at least seven more warships to the Caribbean, along with more than 4,000 Marines and sailors in its effort to combat drug cartels in the region.
The F-35s—the U.S. military’s most advanced fighter jets in service—are due to arrive next week, a source close to the Trump administration said.

Tesla Offers $1 Trillion Comp Plan for Elon
Tesla has proposed a new compensation agreement for CEO Elon Musk, potentially worth up to nearly $1 trillion, a massive package without precedent in corporate America.
The plan, which requires shareholder approval, is meant to incentivize Musk to spend more time with the struggling car company. The full payout requires him to hit several aggressive benchmark targets.
To reach the first target, Tesla needs to reach a market valuation of $2 trillion and achieve 20 million vehicle deliveries, vs. fewer than 2 million in 2024. Eventually, for the full payout, Tesla would need to reach a market cap of $8.5 trillion.
The proposal would also require 1 million robotaxis in commercial operation and the delivery of 1 million artificial intelligence bots. Musk would need to remain with Tesla for at least seven and a half years to cash out on any stock, and 10 years to earn the full amount.

Chart: How Salaries Shift Over a Career
A new visualization of Bureau of Labor Statistics data highlights how salaries evolve throughout the career of the average employee (and not an Elon Musk).
Teen workers (ages 16–19) earn the least, with a median salary of $33,280, almost half the national median of $62,192.
Pay rises quickly in the 20s and 30s, reaching a median salary of $59,228 for those aged 25–34. Salaries peak between 45 and 54 at $70,824, reflecting career stability and leadership roles, before tapering slightly as a person ages through their 50s and early 60s.
Interestingly, workers over 65 still earn a median pay of around $62,296, slightly more than younger professionals in their late 20s and early 30s. See the chart here.
