Conservative Protesters Pack London Streets

More than 110,000 protesters marched through central London on Saturday, carrying English and British flags, in one of the country’s largest modern-day conservative demonstrations.

A crowd stretching three-quarters of a mile from Big Ben to beyond Waterloo station rallied for free speech, British heritage and culture, and U.S. conservative advocate Charlie Kirk.

The gathering was organized by Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom. Protesters were kept apart from a nearby Stand Up to Racism counter-protest attended by about 5,000 people.

More than 1,000 Metropolitan Police officers were deployed, along with an additional 500 from surrounding communities. Police said 25 people had been arrested for a range of offenses in what it described as “wholly unacceptable” violence.

Kirk’s Widow Vows to Advance Movement

Erika Kirk, the widow of slain conservative advocate Charlie Kirk, declared on Friday at Turning Point USA’s headquarters that his mission will not end.

In her first public statement since her husband’s assassination on Wednesday at Utah Valley University, she said, “They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith, and of God’s merciful love. But they should all know this. If you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country.”

Members of Turning Point USA, which has clubs on more than 850 college campuses, expressed their desire to advance the movement and be more active than ever in honor of his memory.

Supporters have rallied around Erika and her two young children, raising $3 million in less than 48 hours on a Christian crowdfunding platform.

List: Ranking the Most Expensive Small Towns

Nantucket was ranked the most expensive small town in the U.S., according to Lending Tree.

The survey looked at towns with populations ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 and calculated the median home value-to-income ratio of each town.

The average home in Nantucket costs $1,387,000, with the average household income just below $120,000. The town has a population of just more than 14,000 residents.

Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts; Jackson, Wyoming; Breckenridge, Colorado; and Hood River, Oregon, round out the top five.

Whatever happened to Tonya Harding?

Tonya Harding was a top U.S. figure skater in the late 1980s and early 1990s, known for her athletic power. In 1991, she became the first American woman to land a triple axel in competition.

But she’s most remembered for the 1994 scandal when her ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly, plotted an attack on her rival, Nancy Kerrigan, striking Kerrigan in the knee before the U.S. Championships.

She avoided jail, but pleaded guilty to conspiracy to hinder prosecution, and at age 23 was banned for life from figure skating. She gave boxing a brief try and appeared occasionally on reality TV shows and celebrity specials.

Today, she lives a quieter life in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and son. The 2017 film I, Tonya, starring Margot Robbie, portrayed her with more sympathy as a victim of poverty and abuse, as well as her own bad choices.
