White House Unveils Major Healthcare Program
The Trump administration announced a major new healthcare data program that would allow Americans to share personal data and medical records across health systems and apps.
The government is partnering with major tech firms, including Google, Amazon, Apple, Oracle, and Microsoft, as well as healthcare giants like UnitedHealth Group and CVS Health, to share patient data across the system.
The initial focus is on diabetes and weight management, but the program aims over time to modernize Medicare’s digital tools and improve data-sharing across systems.
Officials said patients will benefit from a system that allows them to call up their records across systems, but privacy advocates warned that the program raises ethical and legal concerns about the ways in which those medical records could be used.

US Economy Tops Forecasts in Q2
The U.S. economy grew at a 3% annual rate in the second quarter, topping forecasts and reversing a first-quarter decline, despite economists’ warnings about the impact of U.S. trade policies.
According to government data, consumer spending rebounded, imports plunged over 30%, and core inflation cooled to 2.5%.
Trump praised the report and renewed pressure on the Federal Reserve to cut rates, but the Fed opted to hold rates steady on Wednesday, citing inflation risks and softening consumer demand.

Massive Quake Sparks Tsunami Warnings
A powerful 8.8-magnitude earthquake off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, the strongest in 14 years, sent tsunami waves up to 6 feet high crashing into Hawaii, California, and Japan.
Hawaii issued tsunami warnings and evacuation orders, urging residents to move to higher ground or seek shelter indoors.
By mid‑morning, authorities downgraded the warning to a tsunami advisory, lifted evacuation orders, and confirmed that no major damage or injuries occurred in Hawaii.
A social media flap briefly erupted when Oprah Winfrey was accused of closing her Maui estate road during the evacuation—claims her spokesperson and local police denied.
