Good Morning! On this day in 1982, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was dedicated in Washington, D.C. Thousands of veterans marched to the site, where the V-shaped black granite wall displays the names of 57,939 Americans who died in the conflict, listed by the order of death rather than rank.

Venezuela Reportedly Prepares for US Attack
Venezuela is preparing a guerrilla-style defense in the event of a potential U.S. invasion, according to press reports, despite President Trump’s recent indication that he isn’t planning to launch a strike inside the nation.
Documents seen by Reuters detail President Nicolás Maduro’s plan of “prolonged resistance,” relying on small military units and militias, coupled with an “anarchization” plan to create street unrest and disorder in Caracas to make the country ungovernable.
“Experts suggest this strategy acknowledges the Venezuelan military’s weakened state, which suffers from decades-old Russian-made equipment and low pay, but would likely result in U.S. forces facing a “swarm of bees through sabotage and sniper attacks outside of secured zones.
This Venezuelan positioning follows the arrival of the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier to the U.S. Southern Command area yesterday, part of a larger force targeting drug traffickers, which has conducted 19 strikes on suspected vessels since September, killing at least 76 people.

Google Sues Giant Cybercriminal Ring
Google filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday against a cybercriminal group largely based in China for operating a massive SMS phishing, or “smishing,” scheme that used fraudulent text messages impersonating popular services like the E-ZPass highway toll agency and the U.S. Postal Service.
The group uses a Phishing-as-a-Service kit called “Lighthouse” to create fake websites, which Google alleges has compromised an estimated tens of millions of credit cards across more than 120 countries by tricking victims into submitting sensitive financial information.
Google is seeking to dismantle the organization and platform through legal action under the RICO, Lanham, and Computer Fraud and Abuse Acts.

US Mint Strikes Final Penny
The U.S. Mint in Philadelphia ended over 230 years of one-cent coin production in a historic ceremonial strike on Wednesday afternoon.
The final circulating penny was struck by U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach, who cited President Trump’s earlier directive to halt production due to rising costs.
The decision was primarily driven by the fact that each penny currently costs nearly 4 cents to produce, a loss that is expected to save the government approximately $56 million per year.
With an estimated 300 billion pennies already in existence, the coins remain legal tender for all purchases and banking deposits; the government simply ceased minting new ones. Watch a report here.
