Question: Why did the Yellow Pages phone directory use yellow paper?
Answer: Yellow Pages accidentally came about in 1883 when printer Reuben H. Donnelley ran out of white paper stock for while printing phone directories in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He used yellow paper to finish the run, and customers found it much easier to spot across the room and to read. Three years later Donnelley created the first Yellow Pages directory and it was copied around the world.
