Question: Which pre-Civil War president still has a living grandson today?

Answer: President John Tyler, who took office in 1841, was born in 1790. His grandson Harrison Ruffin Tyler, a chemical engineer, is still alive at 95 years old. How? Harrison Tyler’s father was 75 when Harrison was born, and his grandfather – President Tyler – was 63 when Harrison’s dad was born. Thus did just three generations span 233 years.
