Question: Scientists invented the first webcam to watch what critical household appliance?
Answer: The coffee percolator. Computer geeks at the University of Cambridge worked in different labs on different floors, but the only coffee pot was stationed in the main computer lab. If you were late to get there, the hot coffee would be gone. So on Nov. 22, 1993, two of the scientists rigged a camera from the main room to their computer terminals to monitor the percolator, and thus, the webcam was born.
