Question: Where does the word “car” come from?

Answer: Our English word “car” derives from the Latin word carrus, which means a wheeled vehicle, like a wagon or a four-wheeled baggage cart. It has an alternate form, charrus, similar to chariot, which likely would have been animal-powered. A 16-horsepower chariot was quite a spectacle in its day.
