Question: “The President Without a Party” refers to which U.S. president??

Answer: President John Tyler was the first vice president to become president after William Henry Harrison died only one month into his term. Harrison and Tyler had run for office on the Whig ticket. However, Tyler did not fully support Whig policies. After Tyler vetoed two bills aimed at creating a national bank, nearly his entire cabinet resigned. This left him as a president without a party, as both the Whigs and the Democrats opposed him. As a result, he had no chance of winning a second term and withdrew from the next presidential race in mid-1844.
