Question: How old is the oldest living rose on Earth?
Answer: The Rose of Hildesheim, also known as the Thousand-Year Rose, is believed to have been planted in the early 800s, making it well over 1,000 years old. The rose, growing on one side of Germany’s Hildesheim Cathedral, looks more like an out-of-control tree than a flower at this stage of life. Allied bombs nearly destroyed it during World War II, but new branches grew from the root that survived. (See Photos)
