Question: What’s the longest-living vertebrate species?

Answer: Greenland sharks live between 300 and 500 years, and females may not reach maturity until 100 to 150 years old—a long childhood! They move slowly through life, swimming along at an average speed of 0.76 mph. Though there are clams and jellyfish that live longer, no vertebrate lives longer than the Greenland shark.
