Question: Scientists in 2025 unveiled a brand-new color that only five people got to see. What is it?
Answer: Olo! Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, fired tiny lasers into volunteers’ eyes to switch on just one type of color-sensing cell, producing a blue-green so intense it can’t be found in nature or shown on any screen. The name “olo” comes from the code 010, meaning only the middle of the eye’s three color sensors—the green cone—was switched on.
