Answer: They look like fish because the inventor’s wife’s astrological sign was Pisces. Oscar Kambly, head of a Swiss commercial bakery, wanted to surprise his wife for her birthday in 1958 and created a new cracker mold in the shape of a fish. He baked the first fish cracker in the afternoon and presented it to his wife that night. It quickly became an international success—Pepperidge Farm licensed it for the United States in 1962.
