Ukraine Says It Foiled Plot to Kill Zelenskyy
Ukraine’s security forces said it caught a Russian spy who was part of a plan to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last month.
The plot called for the informant to learn details of Zelenskyy’s schedule during his visit to the southern Mykolaiv region a few weeks ago and use it to call down a massive airstrike by the Russians.
Ukrainian forces learned about the plan, tracked the informant, and put extra security in place during the trip. The spy now faces up to 12 years in prison. | College Football Transforms Itself
The traditions of college football have been upended by a dizzying series of conference changes, culminating this weekend when three colleges moved from the Pac-12 to the Big 12, and two others switched from the Pac-12 to the Big 10.
In the end, the Pac-12 was the big loser, left with only four teams, including Stanford and UC-Berkeley, who are said to be in talks with the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The Big 12 now has 16 teams, and the Big 10 is up to 18. The schools involved say they’re looking forward to an era of richer TV rights packages. | Musk Vs. Zuck Fight Proposed for Aug. 26
Though it seemed a joke at first, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says he’s proposed a date of Aug. 26 for the Las Vegas cage match between him and Elon Musk. He added cynically: “Not holding my breath.”
Musk says he’ll stream the fight on his platform—X (formerly Twitter)—but also said he may need surgery on his neck and upper back first, which would indeed delay the fight.
Zuckerberg is younger, taller, and in excellent shape, judging from a photo he posted with his trainers.
