Trump Offers $1,000 for Self-Deportation
The Trump administration has rolled out a new immigration policy offering illegal immigrants $1,000 and free travel if they voluntarily return to their country of origin.
The program, run through the Customs and Border Protection’s Home app, is designed to slash deportation costs by 70% and ease pressure on immigration enforcement, with one Honduran migrant already using it.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called it the “safest and most cost-effective” option for both migrants and law enforcement.
Critics say it risks rewarding unlawful entry, though DHS argues it could leave the door open for legal immigration later. The program doesn’t bar migrants from applying to legally reenter the U.S. in the future.
List: Easiest and Hardest States to Save Money
Tennessee, Missouri, Texas, and Oklahoma rank among the easiest U.S. states for saving money, driven by low costs of living and favorable tax structures, according to a new analysis.
Hawaii, California, Connecticut, and Vermont rank among the hardest due to high living costs and declining employment growth.
Southern states generally offer better savings conditions than coastal states, but they also face challenges such as lower incomes and higher debt.
