Amazon Cloud Outage Disrupts Online Services
A massive Amazon Web Services outage Monday disrupted banks, airlines, gaming networks, and smart-home devices worldwide, affecting thousands of companies.
The failure knocked major platforms offline, including Snapchat, Fortnite, Venmo, Reddit, and Ring, along with Amazon’s own Alexa and shopping sites.
The problem was traced to a failure in AWS’s network-monitoring system and DNS functions at its Virginia data hub, part of a global cloud network used by thousands of companies.
Most services have since come back online, though some users are still seeing slow connections and login errors. The outage lasted several hours and caused widespread interruptions across the U.S. and beyond. Follow live updates here.

White House Begins Demolition for Ballroom
Construction crews began demolishing the East Wing of the White House on Monday to make room for President Trump’s planned ballroom, estimated to cost donors between $200 million and $250 million.
Photos show windows smashed, walls torn down, and heavy equipment removing rubble from the wing, which historically housed the first lady’s offices and sits above a Cold War–era bomb shelter. See the photos here.
The new addition will extend the East Wing southward and is said to be inspired by Trump’s gold-trimmed ballroom at Mar-a-Lago. It’s being funded by Trump and other donors, and not taxpayer money.

Blue Jays, Dodgers Set for World Series
The 2025 World Series is now set: The L.A. Dodgers will take on the Toronto Blue Jays following Toronto’s 4-3 victory over the Mariners last night, driven by George Springer’s 7th inning home run.
The Blue Jays haven’t played in a World Series since 1993. The team is buoyed by big bats–none bigger than Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who leads the postseason in home runs so far.
The Dodgers, meanwhile, completed a sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers in an all-time game from two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani threw 10 strikeouts and hit three home runs to carry the Dodgers over Milwaukee—one of the greatest postseason performances in history.
The first game of the World Series begins Friday night in Toronto’s Rogers Centre, with game coverage on Fox beginning at 8 p.m. ET (See World Series Schedule)
