Trump Plans Tariffs on Mexico, Canada
President-elect Donald Trump announced plans to impose new tariffs on Mexico and Canada upon taking office, aiming to combat illegal immigration and drug trafficking.
Trump proposed a possible 25% tax on all products entering the U.S. from Canada and Mexico as well as a long-promised 10% tariff on goods from China as part of his first batch of executive orders.
Critics pushed back against new tariffs, citing possible economic harm as shares of automakers General Motors and Stellantis fell Tuesday morning following Trump’s announcement.
Overall, investors seemed comfortable with the prospects of tariffs, as stocks rose Tuesday, with the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average reaching new highs.

Storms to Impact Thanksgiving Travel
Powerful winter storms are forecast to disrupt Thanksgiving travel across the U.S., bringing rain and mountain snow to the West and a mix of rain, freezing rain, and snow to the East.
A developing low-pressure system is expected to cause additional travel challenges on the East Coast, affecting Thanksgiving and Black Friday plans. Rain and snow are predicted to span from the Southeast to northern New Hampshire and Maine.
More than 2,000 flights have already been delayed due to weather concerns, with nearly 100 flights canceled.

Walmart Pulls Back on DEI Policies
Walmart announced Monday it’s scaling back its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies, becoming the largest U.S. corporation to retreat from such programs.
The retail giant, which employs 1.6 million workers in the U.S., will end its $100 million racial equity center commitment, pull out of a major LGBTQ+ workplace index, and remove race and gender considerations from supplier contracts.
The decision comes as corporate DEI programs face increased scrutiny following the Supreme Court’s 2023 ruling that ended affirmative action in college admissions. This ruling has prompted conservative groups to file legal challenges targeting workplace diversity initiatives.
Walmart joins other major companies, including Ford, Lowe’s, Tractor Supply, and Harley-Davidson, in scaling back DEI efforts in recent months.
