Jordan Falls 20 Votes Short
The House plans to vote again today for Speaker after Rep. Jim Jordan fell 20 votes short in the first ballot. Those were 20 GOP votes, with the 212 Democrats voting as a bloc for their leader, Hakeem Jeffries.
This is the second Speaker election in 100 years to require multiple ballots, with the first being the election of ousted Speaker Kevin McCarthy in January. McCarthy failed by 19 votes on the first ballot and required 15 ballots overall to win.
Today’s vote is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET. If Jordan fails, other potential candidates include Tom Emmer, the No. 3 House Republican, and Patrick McHenry, who’s the current interim speaker.

The woman lost her right hand in a farming accident and was implanted with a new human-machine interface into her residual bone, nerves, and muscle in December 2018. She controls the hand with her mind.

It can lead to an increased risk of a number of health conditions.
