Math, Reading Scores Hit 20-Year Low
High school seniors’ reading and math scores have fallen to their lowest levels in more than 20 years, according to the latest National Assessment of Education Progress.
The report found 45 percent of 12th graders scored below basic in math and 32 percent below basic in reading, while eighth-grade science scores also dropped.
Education Secretary Linda McMahon blamed federal spending programs and said the Trump administration will push to return control to states. Others blame screens, smartphones, poor teaching methods and the COVID-19 pandemic for the continuing decline.
Data shows that chronic absenteeism and pandemic-era disruptions worsened the situation, but the overall trend began before COVID hit in 2020.

Israel Attacks Hamas Leaders in Qatar
Israel launched an airstrike on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday, striking their political headquarters as they discussed a U.S.-backed Gaza cease-fire plan.
Hamas claimed its senior officials survived, though five members of its team were killed along with the son of top negotiator Khalil al-Hayya. Qatar said one of its security officers also died.
The White House confirmed it had advance notice and relayed a last-minute warning to Qatar, later calling the attack an “unfortunate incident” that undermines peace efforts.
The strike drew swift condemnation from Qatar, the UN, and U.S. allies from Britain to Germany, while Arab states denounced it as a violation of sovereignty. Here’s CCTV footage of the bombing.

Nepal Youth Burn Parliament Over Social Media Ban
Mass protests in Nepal erupted after the government blocked Facebook, YouTube, and X for failing to register under new rules.
Demonstrators stormed parliament and set it on fire, along with the Prime Minister’s residence and other official buildings. Watch a report here.
At least 19 people were killed and hundreds injured as police clashed with protesters, largely young Gen Z adults. Amid the chaos, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned.
Protesters say this revolt is not only about wanting their social media back, and that it’s also a demand to end corruption, authoritarianism, and an unresponsive government.

Former Zillow Exec Opens Door to $1.3T Market
Austin Allison sold his first company for $120M and later served as an executive for Zillow. However, both companies reached massive valuations before regular people could invest.
“I always wished everyday investors could have shared in their early success,” Allison later said. So he built Pacaso differently.
Pacaso brings co-ownership to the $1.3T vacation home market, earning $110M+ in gross profit in under five years. No wonder the same early investors who backed Uber, Venmo, and eBay already invested in Pacaso.
They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO. After adding 10 new international destinations, Pacaso is hitting its stride.
And unlike his previous stops, you can invest in Pacaso as a private company. But you don’t have time to waste. Invest before Pacaso’s opportunity ends on Sept. 18.
