Good Morning! On this date in 1775, a group of colonial Minutemen engaged in their first battle with British regulars in Lexington and Concord, immortalized in the phrase: “The Shot Heard Round the World.” (See Video)
We try every day to be accurate, but occasionally we miss the mark. Yesterday’s Flyover misstated the date of entertainer Steve Lawrence’s death, the kind of error that drives us crazy. Sorry!

Columbia and Barnard College suspended several of the protesting students, including Isra Hirsi, the daughter of U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar. The students were demanding the schools divest from Israel and protesting the Gaza war.
Columbia president Nemat Shafik said the school warned protestors they’d be suspended if the encampment wasn’t removed. When the students refused to leave, school officials called the police to clear them out.
Jury Selected in Trump Trial
All 12 jurors and one alternate were seated for former President Trump’s so-called “hush money” trial Thursday after two previously accepted jurors were dismissed earlier in the day.
Among the seven men and five women jurors are a sales professional, a software engineer, a security engineer, an English teacher, a speech therapist, multiple lawyers, an investment banker, and a retired wealth manager. The selection process for the five remaining alternates will resume Friday.
Near the end of Thursday’s proceedings, a request for a list of witnesses by Trump’s attorney was denied by prosecutors and the judge due to Trump’s use of social media, though prosecutors agreed it was a courtesy typically extended.
If the remaining alternate jurors are selected today, opening statements will begin Monday, with the prosecution going first.
911 Service Restored to Millions
Millions of people across four states were left without 911 services Wednesday night, caused by a light pole installation that severed crucial fiber optic cables, according to emergency call provider Lumen Technologies.
Outages were reported in Nebraska, Nevada, South Dakota, and Texas but were restored late Wednesday evening. Authorities don’t suspect the outages resulted from a cyberattack or other “malicious acts,” but the FCC has opened an investigation.
Reports of 911 outages also emerged in Hawaii, but Honolulu police officials said the service was down for about 20 minutes.
