Czech Gunman Kills 14 in Prague
A 24-year-old university student killed 14 people and injured 25 more at Charles University in Prague Thursday, the worst mass shooting in Czech Republic history. The gunman was “eliminated,” police said.
The shooting took place near a busy tourist zone in Prague. Dramatic video shows people leaping from a ledge at the university to escape and others racing down the street to get away.
Police gave no motive for the shooting but said they didn’t consider it an act of terrorism. They believe the gunman was responsible for several murders before Thursday’s shooting, including killing his father.
Giuliani Files for Bankruptcy
Rudy Giuliani filed for bankruptcy Thursday after being hit with a $148 million defamation judgment last week for defaming two Georgia election workers. Giuliani listed his net worth as up to $10 million and his current debt at $151 million.
Giuliani will get protection from some creditors, but not all. Damages stemming from a defamation ruling can’t be eliminated in bankruptcy, and the judge ordered Giuliani to start paying the $148 million immediately.
According to the filing, in addition to the jury penalty, Giuliani owes nearly $1 million in taxes and at least $3.4 million in potential liabilities from other lawsuits.
Survey: A Sports Fan’s Political Primer
LIV Golf attracts fans who are more politically liberal, while the PGA Tour leans right, with 56% of PGA fans self-identifying as “more conservative,” according to a survey by The Harris Poll and Sportico.
The survey includes a chart showing the political skew of various sports. College football is the most conservative-leaning, while tennis is the most liberal.
The poll also notes that how fans perceive the political tilt of a sport is sometimes at odds with the actual politics of the fan base. For example, 63% thought women’s basketball was “more liberal,” but in fact, 55% of its fans identify as conservative.
