Bannon Ordered to Begin Jail Term
A federal judge ordered Steve Bannon, a longtime ally of former President Trump, to report to prison by July 1 to begin a four-month prison sentence for contempt of Congress.
Bannon, a well-known conservative political consultant, was convicted in 2022 for defying a subpoena from the now-defunct House Jan. 6 committee and failing to appear for a deposition.
A three-judge appeals court panel upheld Bannon’s conviction last month. On Thursday, the federal court revoked his bail, ruling that Bannon should serve jail time while appealing his case.
COVID Vaccines Blamed in Excess Deaths
The COVID vaccines may be partly responsible for excess deaths worldwide that have continued over the past three years, according to a new study conducted by Dutch researchers.
The study analyzed data from 47 Western nations, including the U.S., and discovered that excess mortality remained high despite the vaccine and that the cause may be related to medical problems caused by the vaccines.
The scientists pointed out serious “adverse events” documented in the vaccine clinical trials that affect a percentage of people who took the vaccine, saying they lead to “either death, are life-threatening, require in-patient hospitalization,” or cause other significant disabilities.
The study calls on governments and policy leaders to investigate the underlying causes of an “excess mortality” rate involving 3 million deaths over three years.
Quicksand Half-Swallows Woman in Maine
A Maine woman strolling barefoot at Popham Beach State Park looking for sand dollars suddenly slipped hip-deep into a patch of quicksand, a phenomenon seldom seen outside of old Hollywood action movies.
Jamie Acord said she was discussing dinner plans with her husband right before she found herself up to her waist in quicksand. “All of a sudden I was hip-deep in a wet slurry of sand,” she said. “I couldn’t feel the bottom and I couldn’t get a footing.”
According to park officials, areas of quicksand occasionally show up at the beach, and recent flooding and erosion have left the sand overly saturated. It’s not uncommon for people to sink a few feet or up to their waist in some spots.
If you find yourself in quicksand, officials say to stay calm, lean forward, and climb out. In Jamie’s case, she screamed until her husband picked her up.
