Good Morning! On this day in 1887, John Henry “Doc” Holliday, a well-known gunslinger and occasional dentist, died of tuberculosis at a sanitarium in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He’s famous for his role in the shootout at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona, and his lasting friendship with Wyatt Earp.

Fed Cuts Rates for Second Time in 2024
The Federal Reserve cut interest rates by 0.25 percentage points Thursday to a range of 4.5 to 4.75 percent, marking its second consecutive cut after a two-year campaign of rate hikes to combat inflation.
Fed Chair Jerome Powell deflected questions about President-elect Trump’s potential impact on the economy, stating, “We don’t guess, we don’t speculate, and we don’t assume.”
He also firmly rejected the possibility of stepping down if asked by President-elect Trump, responding with a simple “No” during Thursday’s press conference and noting it is “not permitted under the law” for a president to fire or demote Fed leaders.
The rate decision comes as the economy shows mixed signals, with October’s jobs report showing only 12,000 new jobs added, the lowest in nearly four years, though the numbers were affected by hurricanes and the Boeing strike.

GOP Expand Senate Majority, House Still Undecided
The AP has called Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate race for Republican David McCormick, increasing the GOP majority to 53 seats with races in Arizona and Nevada still undecided.
Democratic Sen. Bob Casey, Pennsylvania’s longest-serving Democrat in the Senate, has yet to concede, citing over 100,000 remaining ballots, including provisional, military, and overseas votes, still to be counted.
In the House, Republicans hold a narrow 213-200 majority despite Democrats successfully defending three key seats in Nevada, with 22 races still yet to be called.

43 Lab Monkeys Escape Research Facility
Forty-three young female monkeys escaped Wednesday night from Alpha Genesis, a biomedical research facility in Beaufort County, South Carolina after a new employee left an enclosure unsecured.
Police launched a search using thermal imaging cameras and food-baited traps while warning residents to secure their homes and avoid interacting with the monkeys, which have never been used for testing and are reportedly too young to carry disease.
The incident continues a pattern of security issues at Alpha Genesis, which manages a 3,500-monkey colony on South Carolina’s “Monkey Island.”
Federal officials fined Alpha Genesis in 2018 for previous escapes and violations, with additional breakouts occurring in May 2024 and 2016.

We are in the middle of our annual Box of Love® outreach to share holiday meals with families in need in inner cities across the nation. Every Box of Love is a complete Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings – more than enough to feed a family of 6.
Most importantly, each Box of Love always includes a gospel presentation — Scripture materials for both children and adults and information about knowing God personally. The Box of Love does more than meet a physical need — children and adults encounter the gospel and have come to faith in Christ through the decades of this powerful, incredibly effective outreach.
Please stand with Cru Inner City today, providing Boxes of Love® to families in need of a helping hand. You’ll meet a huge need in the inner city … HUNGER … and shine the love and mercy of Jesus into the darkness of hopelessness and despair.
