Iran Claims Strikes on 7 Hormuz Tankers
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said Thursday that it struck four oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and that three more hit mines. If confirmed, it would be the largest single-day attack on ships there since the war began in February.
The Guard also threatened U.S. bases in the region if the American military keeps escorting ships through the strait. A top Iranian security official warned that undersea internet cables and data centers in the region could be targeted if the fighting resumes.
Separately, the State Department ordered nonessential diplomats and their families out of Saudi Arabia after deadly attacks on Saudi airports by Houthi rebels, who are backed by Iran.

Trump Ordered to Testify in BBC Lawsuit
President Trump must answer questions under oath from BBC lawyers by Dec. 11 or risk having his $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the network thrown out, a federal judge in Miami ruled Thursday.
Trump’s lawyers had sought to delay the questioning until January. He skipped an earlier Oct. 16 date over “other matters of national importance,” though a BBC attorney said he was campaigning in Georgia.
The suit targets a BBC documentary that spliced together lines from Trump’s Jan. 6, 2021, speech that he delivered nearly an hour apart, making them sound like one statement. The edit also cut his call to march “peacefully and patriotically.”
The BBC apologized for the edit, admitting it gave “the mistaken impression” that Trump “had made a direct call for violent action.” Its director-general and news chief resigned, but the network denies defaming him.

Rays-Brewers World Series Opens Tonight
The Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays, who finished with the best records in their respective leagues, open the World Series tonight in Milwaukee, with both seeking their first-ever Series championship. Here’s how to watch.
The 103-win Milwaukee Brewers have lost just once this postseason, sweeping the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers for the National League pennant. The 98-win Tampa Bay Rays rallied past the Cleveland Guardians in the ALCS to capture the American League title 4-2.
This is just the second World Series between two teams with roofed home ballparks, and it caps the Rays’ first season back at Tropicana Field since Hurricane Milton heavily damaged the stadium in 2024.
Both League Championship Series MVPs will face their original major league teams in the World Series. Rays pitcher Freddy Peralta spent eight seasons in Milwaukee, while Brewers first baseman Jake Bauers made his big league debut with Tampa Bay.

Is Your Car Insurance Loyalty Costing You?
Sticking with the same car insurance company year after year might feel like a smart move. After all, shouldn’t being a loyal customer earn you a better deal?
Not necessarily.
Insurance rates change all the time, and staying with the same company doesn’t guarantee you’re getting its best price. You could be paying more than you need to simply because you haven’t checked what else is available.
And after years of inflation-driven increases, car insurance premiums now average more than $2,200–$2,500 a year. At those prices, even a modest difference in rates could add up to hundreds of dollars over the course of a year.
Money’s free car insurance comparison tool lets you compare rates from providers in your area and see whether switching could save you money.
