Good Morning! On this day in 1888, the Washington Monument was opened to the public. Construction began in 1848, but funding challenges and the Civil War took a 40-year toll on the process.
A Montana softball player spent years knowing she had a sister out there somewhere. Then a teammate pointed across the field and said, “There’s a girl on my all-state team who looks just like you.” The details are below. It got us wondering how many of you have gone digging into your own family tree. Let us know in our poll below.
Today’s sponsor, Dr. Steven Gundry, is challenging what you may think you know about “healthy” snacks by revealing which popular choices he says could be working against your waistline goals.

Storms Taking Aim at Both US Coasts
Tropical Storm Rachel will bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, and 15-foot waves to Southern California this weekend, days after Los Angeles baked through a record five straight 100-degree days.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Isaias is expected to make landfall near Pensacola late tonight as a possible Category 3, with evacuations underway and states of emergency in Florida, Alabama, and Georgia.
In California, showers could start Saturday night, with the heaviest rain Sunday into Monday. Forecasters warn of coastal flooding and dangerous rip currents along the coast.
The moisture then pushes into Arizona and Nevada, where Phoenix and Las Vegas could see 2 to 3 inches of rain. It could be only the third time since 1963 that tropical systems hit both U.S. coasts at once.

US Suspends Microsoft from Green Card Program
The Trump administration has suspended Microsoft and Adobe from the program that lets employers sponsor foreign workers for green cards, accusing them of abusing the visa system. Several IT outsourcing firms were suspended as well.
Vice President JD Vance said Microsoft laid off 6,000 American workers last year while obtaining 6,300 H-1B visas and nearly 3,000 green cards.
Microsoft said most of its U.S. employees are Americans and that 80% of its H-1B filings covered existing staff, not new hires.
The move came a day after Homeland Security proposed a $70,000 fee that colleges would pay for every international student who takes a job through a student work program.

ISS Astronauts Return After 237 Days
Four astronauts splashed down in the Pacific off Los Angeles yesterday morning, closing out a 237-day mission aboard the International Space Station. The SpaceX Dragon capsule undocked on Wednesday and spent about 27 hours making its way home.
NASA’s Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, the European Space Agency’s Sophie Adenot, and Russia’s Andrey Fedyaev launched in February and logged more than 100 million miles in orbit.
Their stay ran a few weeks longer than planned after a propulsion issue delayed the arrival of their replacements.
Meir performed four spacewalks, bringing her career total to seven, and Adenot became the first French woman to walk in space. The crew now begins 45 days of conditioning to readjust to gravity. Watch the splashdown here.
