Good morning! On this date in 1916, the world saw the first use of tanks in war by the British at the Battle of the Somme in World War I. These first tanks were primitive, unreliable and not very effective — until the next war. (See Photo)

Hunter Biden Indicted on Gun Charges
Hunter Biden was indicted Thursday on federal gun charges, two months after a plea deal that would have protected him from prosecution collapsed under a judge’s questioning.
Biden was charged by Special Counsel David Weiss with lying about his drug use while buying a gun. The gun was found by police in 2018 after being thrown in a dumpster by Hallie Biden, his late brother Beau’s widow.
Biden’s lawyers vowed a vigorous constitutional defense. Court rulings have differed on the 2nd amendment implications of barring protected gun ownership because of drug use. (Read the Indictment) | Vegas Casinos Crippled by Hackers
Hackers targeting Las Vegas casinos have created five days of chaos at MGM Resorts’ hotels and stolen the loyalty program database from Caesar’s Entertainment, including driver’s licenses and social security numbers.
Casesar’s acknowledged its attack in a filing Thursday with the SEC. They said they were hit by a “social engineering attack,” meaning a hacker convinced a person to give them access and said the cost to them was still unknown.
MGM Resorts had many of its operations shut down by hackers, including ATM and slot machines as well as the check-in system and even digital keys to guest rooms. It’s not clear if the attacks were by the same group. | Trump to Appear on ‘Meet the Press’ Sunday
Donald Trump will give his first broadcast network interview since leaving office with Kristin Walker on “Meet the Press” this Sunday. The interview will be pre-taped at Trump’s New Jersey golf club.
It will be Welker’s first week hosting the show. She replaces former host Chuck Todd, who left “Meet the Press” last week after nine years hosting the 75-year-old show, the longest-running program on TV.
Getting Trump to appear is a major coup for Welker; Trump praised her skill at moderating his second debate with President Biden in 2020.
