US Embassy Staff Evacuated from Sudan
U.S. military units (including SEAL Team Six) rescued American diplomatic staff from the U.S. embassy in Khartoum over the weekend. The operation took place amid heavy fighting, but the Pentagon said the mission was “fast and clean.”
Armed conflict in the region has become increasingly violent, leading to the deaths of hundreds of innocent civilians.
Thousands of foreigners are trapped in the war-torn country by closed airports and impassable roads. The U.N. has urged the warring factions to respect ceasefires that would allow civilians to reach safety; these calls have fallen on the deaf ears of army leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the rival RSF, headed by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
A three-day truce was violated on Friday, and each side blamed the other.
As the intensity ratchets up, it seems increasingly less likely that the two sides will be willing to negotiate.

Mystery Cattle Mutilations In Texas
Six dead cattle have been found in three Texas counties with disturbing, mysterious injuries and no clear cause of death. The cows have been found lying on one side with the exposed side of their face cut along the jawline, and their tongues completely removed.
In each case, there is no blood spilled on the ground or any visible signs of struggle. The sheriff’s office also reports that there has been no discovery of footprints or tire tracks in the areas and that predators and birds are leaving the remains alone.
Two of the cattle had their anus and external reproductive organs cut out with the same surgical exactitude displayed in the jawline cuts of each cow.
The Madison County sheriff’s office is working with other US agencies to find the cause of this suspicious activity, as there have been reports of thousands of similar occurrences nationwide.

Disney Dragon Bursts Into Flames
A 45-foot animatronic dragon caught on fire at Disneyland and caused mild panic.
The Maleficent dragon, a fire-breathing prop that takes center stage in a night-time production called Fantasmic!, is supposed to be defeated by Mickey Mouse’s spell. Instead, it turned into an inferno and sent tightly-packed guests scrambling to get away.
"It was shocking," a witness said. "The crowd was in a standstill. People are packed in like sardines.”
Videos of the incident are making the rounds online, and Disney is apologizing for the event.
