 Trump Bets on Squeezing Iran’s Economy
President Trump said Sunday that the United States is “low keying it” with Iran, letting economic pressure build rather than ordering a new offensive.
“We are only semi-negotiating with them. We are just watching Iran with its huge inflation and the fact they have no money,” he said Sunday. “It will work out. It always works out. It’s like a chess game.”
Iran’s foreign minister said Sunday there are no direct talks with Washington, only messages passed through intermediaries.
U.S. officials say there are growing disagreements inside the regime: President Masoud Pezeshkian’s camp fears economic collapse and wants a deal with Washington, while the Revolutionary Guard’s commander rejects any concessions.

Israel Rejects US Gaza Peace Plan
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Sunday that Israel rejects President Trump’s 15-point peace plan for Gaza, a proposal Hamas accepted last month.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said the Israeli army will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is “genuinely disarmed,” and he vowed that no Palestinian state will be established while he leads Israel.
Hamas says it remains committed to the road map both sides previously agreed to and expects the United States to pressure Israel to follow it.
In the meantime, Netanyahu said Israeli forces will continue their operations against what he called threats to Israel’s security and its civilians.

Wildfire Smoke Drifts into Six US States
Smoke from Canada’s raging wildfires is drifting into the United States, putting millions of Americans under air quality alerts in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. See the map here.
Some areas are breathing air rated as unhealthy or very unhealthy, with alerts naming Denver, Spokane, Boise, Missoula, and Casper, and health officials urging caution for children and older adults.
The worst is in British Columbia, where the Bald Range fire forced more than 20,000 people from their homes, destroyed houses, and grew so intense that it generated its own weather and lightning.
Canada’s fire season has burned more than 9.6 million acres this year, and forecasters warn shifting winds could carry hazardous smoke to millions of Americans far from the flames.
