Trump Cancels Iran Strikes, Cites Deal

President Trump said he canceled planned military strikes on Iran over the weekend after negotiators reached the outline of a deal to end the conflict.

The agreement would require the complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat, though Trump warned the U.S. military remains “locked and loaded” if talks collapse.

Iran’s foreign minister said Sunday that negotiations with Oman over the strait are in their final stages, though officials tied to the country’s Revolutionary Guard denied that any deal exists.

The reversal came after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman urged restraint in a call with Trump. The shelved campaign would have targeted Iran’s energy infrastructure and could have lasted several days.

Senator Urges Ex-Son-in-Law to Resign

Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio called for the resignation of fellow Republican Rep. Max Miller on Sunday, declaring his former son-in-law “a danger to my daughter” and unfit for office.

The rebuke came shortly after Miller denied the allegations in a livestream and vowed to stay in his reelection race, saying no court or agency has substantiated any abuse claim against him.

Moreno’s daughter Emily, who divorced Miller last year, has accused him in court filings of shoving her, pouring scalding water on her, and putting a gun to her head. Miller has sued her for defamation.

The feud between the two Trump-aligned Republicans landed days before Wednesday’s deadline to trigger a special election that could replace Miller on the ballot in a Cleveland-area district Trump carried by 11 points.

Women Outnumber Men in US Workforce

Women now hold more payroll jobs than men in the United States for only the third time in history, and economists say this time may be permanent.

Unlike past flips during the Great Recession and just before the pandemic, a former Federal Reserve economist found this shift is structural: two-thirds of the 1.2 million jobs added in the past two years went to women.

Men are driving the change by leaving. Male labor force participation has fallen by nearly 20 percentage points since 1948, and one landmark study found that young men poured roughly three-quarters of their newfound free time into video games. Read the study in PDF here.

The jobs themselves tell the story. Health care and social assistance added more than 680,000 positions over the past year, according to federal data, while male-heavy sectors like manufacturing and transportation shed jobs.
