Iran Strikes Israel
Iran launched retaliatory airstrikes on Israel late Friday, targeting Jerusalem and Tel Aviv after Israeli strikes killed top Iranian military leaders and nuclear scientists.
Israeli officials said Iran fired about 100 missiles in two waves. The Iron Dome defense system intercepted most of the missiles, though some caused fires and injured 44 people, leaving two people in serious condition. See missile attack here.
The Trump administration denied U.S. military involvement in Israel’s strike, but American forces did assist in shooting down Iranian missiles and projectiles Friday, according to three U.S. officials.
Iran canceled planned nuclear talks with the U.S. that were set for Sunday in Oman, despite President Trump urging Tehran to engage in talks before it’s too late.

Economic Mood Shifts
Consumer sentiment surged in June, ending a six-month slide, as optimism grew following the Trump administration’s recent rollback of select tariffs.
June consumer confidence rose to 60.5, beating the 54 estimate and marking a 15.9% monthly gain, according to one index of consumer sentiment. Inflation expectations also dropped sharply, with the one-year outlook falling to 5.1%—down from 6.6% last month, and easing from highs not seen since 1981.
Consumer confidence remains divided along political lines, with Republicans expressing greater optimism about the economy under Trump than Democrats. The Federal Reserve is also expected to hold interest rates steady at next week’s meeting.
