SCOTUS Strikes Down Ban on Bump Stocks

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Friday in a 6-3 decision that a federal ban on bump stocks, gun accessories that allow semiautomatic rifles to fire more quickly, is unlawful.

The Trump administration adopted the ban after the accessory was used during the 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas.

The majority opinion stated that bump stocks do not turn semiautomatic weapons into machine guns because each trigger depression in rapid succession still only releases one shot. The dissenting opinion argued that bump stocks should be classified as machine guns.

Pentagon Ran Secret Campaign in China

A Reuters investigation revealed on Friday that the U.S. military secretly ran a propaganda campaign during the COVID-19 pandemic to discredit China’s Sinovac vaccine in the developing world.

The campaign used at least 300 fake Twitter (now X), primarily in the Philippines, Central Asia, and the Middle East, to spread fear about China’s vaccines and to curb Beijing’s perceived growing influence.

The operation began under former President Donald Trump in the spring of 2020 and continued for months under President Joe Biden, even after social media executives warned the new administration about the ongoing campaign. It was eventually halted in the spring of 2021.

Wild hogs are causing widespread destruction across at least 35 states in the U.S.

These invasive animals, first brought to Florida by Spanish settlers in the 1500s, are responsible for significant agricultural damage, garden destruction, and, in some cases, attacks on humans. Here’s a video.

Statistics show that they kill more people annually than sharks.

States like Kentucky, Tennessee, and Washington have already banned possession of these animals. Ohio is considering legislation that would allow landowners to shoot the feral swine without a license.
